The Hidden Concussion Report 2026

How often athletes 18+ play through concussions, who they tell, and why they stay quiet. An independent, anonymous survey of contact-sport athletes by LockerIndex.

Results publish at 30 athletes. 27 to go.

We don't publish anything until there are enough answers to protect everyone's anonymity. Know an athlete? Send them the survey.

Methods

Who
Contact-sport athletes 18 and older, any level from adult rec to pro, answering about their most recent season.
How
An anonymous online survey of about 15 questions, shared through athlete networks, teams and communities. No names, logins or team names are collected.
Privacy
Nothing is published until 30 athletes have answered, and no subgroup smaller than 10 is ever shown. Emails are stored separately and never linked to answers.
Limits
Participants choose to take part, so this is not a random sample, and answers are self-reported. Results describe the athletes who responded and should be read that way.
Lead
Dr. Darren Burke, PhD, exercise physiologist and former university researcher. LockerIndex is independent of every team, league and sponsor.
